| Agriculture | Crafts Cubans are artisans. Since the Embargo, Cubans have been very innovative to supplement their income and lifestyles through crafts. Crafts and art are sold in open markets throughout Cuba or in private homes of the artists and craftsmen. Crafts include embroidery, woodwork, sculpture, pottery, clothing, paper mache, musical instruments, jewelry, gemstones, eating utensils, etc. For USA citizens, purchase of artwork (paintings) is not restricted except purchasers need to obtain a "certificate of tax paid" from the Cuban government before the artwork leaves Cuba. Crafts may be confiscated from USA citizens returning from Cuba by USA Customs since these items may not be considered true works of art and are not exempt items under the USA Embargo against Cuba.
