| Agriculture | Cigars To discuss cigars of Cuba is beyond the scope of this website. That being stated, almost all brands of Cuban cigars are in great demand worldwide. Tobacco grown in the rich soils of Western Cuba, Pinar del Rio, is carefully harvested, cured, and crafted into cigars distinctively Cuban. Cuban cigars may be purchased from local farmers in Western Cuba directly or may be purchased, attached with brand labels, through government controlled shops throughout Cuba. Rather than paying high prices for cigars in established shops, many travelers to Cuba simply purchase cigars from cigar rollers who work in the major hotel lobbies across Cuba. For US $3.00 versus US $10, a fine, freshly rolled, smoke can be had. These locally rolled cigars can also be legally carried back into the USA ($100 worth every 6 months for personal use) if the person in Cuba is traveling under a Specific License issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the USA Treasury.
